Soekris has a weird add-console-and-vga-together on console.
you didnt say how youre booting,
but for me grub booting with output to serial
works with this:
title Voyage Linux 0.8 (Build Date 20111122)
kernel /vmlinuz root=LABEL=ROOT_FS console=ttyS0,115200n8 all_generic_ide ide_c
IIRC, pxelinux likes:
SERIAL 0 115200
