[Soekris] LED controller

Hi,

I am trying to have my Soekris board to somehow control a set of 16
LEDs, with each LED representing the workability of a FXO/FXS port.
I can obtain the status of the FXO/FXS port from the dadhi driver, and
what I would like to do is to use that status to control the ON/OFF of
those LED lights through some shell scripting or even C programming.

Does anyone know how to do it?  What kind of programming or tools that
are available?  What are the components that I can purchase
off-the-shelf for this kind of thing?
