[Soekris] 4501 with pct2usb and some raid magic

hello list,

i'm a happy 4501 user and since my external drive died loosing much of
my personal data (and hence, learning an important lesson: backups are
necesary) i planned buying 2 x 160gb Western Digital disks (on sale
now) and attach them to my 4501 trough a pci2usb card. on top of this,
apply some linux software raid 1.

My questions:
- any recommendation on a better solution? -low cost..-
- the pci bus of the soekris would be able to deal with 50mbps+ throughput?
- any recommendation on a pci2usb card to buy? i think i need to keep
in mind my external disk are powered under usb.
