[Soekris] FreeBSD install on 5501

I have a pre-buy question.

Im reading on the soekris.info page, which under freebsd install says

Media install
If you can attach, perhaps temporarily, a floppy, CD or DVD drive, then
the FreeBSD handbook describes the normal FreeBSD install process.

But the wiki also says

Can I boot my Soekris box from USB?
To quote a soekris-tech list member: "No".

I normally just plugin the boot cd, and install - but if the soekris box
cant usb boot, then what good is a usb floppy or cd rom drive?
