Guy,
Is it possible to back down the OS release... I have a 4801, which
was running a USB stick for almost 2 years. I upgraded my CF from 5.4 to
7.0, and now the stick won't newfs right, if I write to it it corrupts
data or kernel panics, etc. Put it back on a 5.4 system, and its happy.
It seems there is a current "USB not working right" thread on
freebsd-questions which I've also chimed in on. Maybe if enough people
state there is a problem, it might be paid attention to.
In the end I ditched the USB stick and put a laptop drive into
the machine. (Oh, and be careful if you want to run SETI... For me things
worked fine for MONTHS, then it'd lock up every so often, then more often,
then daily, then 5 minutes... As soon as I stop running SETI, its been
running 50 days straight so far).
