[Soekris] net5501 Hardware Issues?

It happens the same to me. I own two net5501. The second one has
this problem since first day. I sent it for re-soldering too and it
worked fine until I added a HDD to this computer -- hence the problem
persists on this unit.

The first net5501 I got has the same models of CF and HDD installed on it
and works fine. It never had the power up issue and I trust it will
work reliably for years.

If Soekris Engineering wants to sell computers to the European market
this company should accept European laws; if a problem on the
manufacturing process is discovered on the first month of use of an
equipment the company *must* replace the defective unit with a new one,
except when the customer agrees about this unit be fixed. Period.
I asked for a replacement unit and they denied this option.
I am sorry for being so harsh, but I got three Soekris computers for
personal use and OpenBSD development in the last years. Perhaps a
corporation may afford dropping these computers if broken, but the
amount of money I spent on the last unit is a concern for me.
