Hi,

I think people are under the wrong impression here. Maybe I need
to drag the story out a bit.

I've been talking to someone about using Soekris boxes at remote
sites for monitoring and out of band management running (Insert Unix type
operating system here.). I've been after him for a few months about it.

HE, not me, goes out and tells the fire department he has a solution
to run their present Windows 98 door security system on a smaller device
since the desktop takes up too much room. The security system is already
in place, they just want to replace the hardware due to space issues
which have been escalated due to "FAT errors" I've been told (So I'm
guessing its the disk going bad). The person I was trying to use Soekris
for something completely non-related did the consulting. I HAVE NOTHING TO
DO WITH ANY OF IT except the fact that this fire station services my beach house.

All I was trying to do is see if anyone out there used another platform
they would suggest that would be able to run Windows 98. My suggestion is a
low end (And I guess people assumed UNRELIABLE... Which isn't the case) laptop
that you can end up getting at *Mart (EG: They do sell Dells at one of them).

I'm basically just going to tell the guy "Sorry, miscommunication,
you'll have to find some alternative out".

Now, off to see why my 4801-60 has crashed for the 3rd time in the
last 2 weeks (Yes Jeff, THAT one....)
