Actually, I misread your top output. During your testing, according
to this snapshot...
4.2%us: The time the CPU has spent running users’ processes that are
not niced.
27.8%sy: The time the CPU has spent running the kernel and its
processes.
15.2%hi: The amount of time the CPU has been servicing hardware
interrupts.
52.8%si: The amount of time the CPU has been servicing software
interrupts.
4.2 + 27.8 + 15.2 + 52.8 = 100.0
This agrees with the 0.0%id reported. So you definitely have a CPU
bottleneck there. Whether it is a symptom or the cause is hard to
say without more information, but 40% of two 50+ Mbps wireless links
doesn't sound too out of line with reported throughput limitations
of the 4801 product line, as reported in previous threads on this
mailing list (if I read you correctly).
