Have you looked at the Wake-On-LAN settings?  Sounds like you might
be running *BSD, but at least on Linux, you can do:

  /usr/sbin/ethtool -s eth0 wol d

I don't know what the OpenBSD equivalent is.  My 4801 has been
working great for many months, but I believe this fixed that problem
for me.
