Just for the record: if you look at Lilo's 2ST BL as no more than an
extension to the PBR code, that is. Functionally, GRUB's and OpenBSDs fs
awareness + interactive shell add a true "stage" to the boot process.
But more important, and of possible interest to Soekris/CF users: I keep
forgetting to mention that Lilo's weakness is also its strength: if the
specified kernel is still there and intact, Lilo will load and boot it,
no matter what state the fs is in. Offering you at least a remote chance
to fix the errors. If you're paranoid about CF errors messing up the fs,
that should be a nice thing to know (and if the CF errors mess up your
kernels, not boot loader can help you). If I'm right, that's exactly how
this discussion started. "The circle is round", as they say here in
Holland;)
