Have you tried with PIO4? Just add to /boot/loader.conf:
  hw.ata.ata_dma="0"
IIRC, there were some known issues with UDMA when both CF and
HDD were installed.

On my older net4801 (HDD but no CF), UDMA seems to work just
fine though:

  fw# atacontrol mode ad0
  current mode = UDMA33

Currently running:
  FreeBSD 6.2-STABLE FreeBSD 6.2-STABLE #0: Mon Mar 19 11:48:44 MST 2007
with a:
  ad0: 28615MB <IC25N030ATMR04 0 MOAOAD4A> at ata0-master UDMA33
