Have you tried with PIO4? Just add to /boot/loader.conf:
hw.ata.ata_dma="0"
IIRC, there were some known issues with UDMA when both CF and
HDD were installed.
On my older net4801 (HDD but no CF), UDMA seems to work just
fine though:
fw# atacontrol mode ad0
current mode = UDMA33
Currently running:
