Nice to know that hardware manufacturers are now looking for low-energy
devices (what means lower termal load on high density racks and, of course,
lower power requirements).  Noise reduction is an important goal too.

I suppose that you are thinking on the new Seagate Savvio 15K drives;
but even if these drives consume 30 percent less than other 15K driver
they are too far from the power requirements of the 5K up to 7K ATA drives
that usually run on Soekris embedded computers.

It would be certainly great a Soekris computer with Ultra320 drives!  ;-)
Can it be an advantage for a machine whose CPU has not been designed
with I/O performance as a primary goal?  (in any case, 2.5" Ultra320
drives are too expensive these days...)

On an unrelated matter... will the net5501 come with interfaces for both
UltraDMA-100 and Serial ATA drives?  In this case, will it ibe possible
install two drives concurrently?
