I run a commercial wisp, the most 'powerful' card we use is the CM9 at
30mW
I have lots of point to point links on 802.11a some are more than 40Km
(solid 1M dishes for long links like this!) and point to multipoint
using sectors on 802.11b/g to outdoor CPE we are comfortable going to
about 7Km in most areas (again with 30mW cards)
more power is almost never the answer, we get a lot of our antennas from
these guys, not the best but good at the price point and local to us

Perhaps you could outline what you are trying to do and lets see if your
problem can be solved by a better engineering approach
