How is booting from the hard disk using version 1.27 not working for you?

If what you are trying to achieve is changing the boot order (by means 
of the bootdrive command that was indeed added in version 1.28), then I 
seem to remember that this could also be achieved in version 1.27 by 
manually changing some values in the BIOS image. Please refer to

Your other possible course of action is to try and get the upgrade to 
work. I've never had to do this myself, but a quick Google turned up the
