[Soekris] OpenBSD pf transparent bridge - hardware tricks

As per the question of switching on the lan1641, under OBSD I don't know,
but under FreeBSD you can easily bridge ports together with the if_bridge
module. I assume OpenBSD has the same capabilities knowing that FreeBSD uses
a lot of similar code. If that is a simple viable solution for you, go for
it, otherwise there's some other options depending on what kind of hardware
you're actually using in the setup.

if you want to do a bit of tinkering, i am normally
using some cheap 5/8/16 port switches (Edimax, but many brands use the same
hw)
based in the realtek chipset. (rtl8309 and the like, see on
www.realtek.com.tw)

They cost close to nothing, take 12v supply (0.5A for the 8 port
version, 1A for the 16 port), but they
really have an internal switching regulator with 50v capacitors
(which makes me think they are designed for Power on Ethernet-like).
So you can stack the switch and the soekris one on top of the other,
and use the same power supply for both.
