Fixed now, thanks

Yes, I managed to boot with the working kernel and the null device did
exist but not the console.

Now my kernel doesn't give the warning message anymore, but it doesn't
continue booting after saying that it has freed additional memory. I can
post an exact log tonight, I don't have it here at the office.

What is strange, is that if I insert and remove my USB flash disk, I get
the console messages of new device addition/removal, so the kernel is
running, it just seems like it never "booted" the rest of the system.
I.e. init never got kicked off? I have checked inittab, it looks fine,
and it works with the other kernel.

I have added an additional agetty on ttyS1 because I thought the kernel
might be locking S0 but this didn't work either with the new kernel.

The kernel does seem to mount the HDD, I get messages like "remounting fs
Okay" (or something like that).

Thank you for your help so far!
Andi
