I'm running pfsense on a 4801 too and had the same sort of DMA problems.
Note that pfsense only needs a 128 Mb CF.
Using an older (and smaller) CF without DMA is an easy workaround.
Performance is unaffected, pfsense hardly uses the CF (except for
booting of course). In my case a 512 Mb Kingston works fine.
