For starters, disable DMA in your OS' ATA driver and see if the problem
goes away.
Secondly you could check the date of your printed circuit card revision.

appears to be silkscreened on near the reset switch in the lower left in
YYMMDD format. If yours is older than the date referenced above, then DMA
won't work.
