Yes, I have a net4801 hooked up to a PSTN modem at 115200bps and
it most definitely works.

Are you sure? I guess it's because you don't really need 115kbps to
transmit the POST messages :)
Anyway, you have to set the speed at the OS level, so you can safely
ignore whatever the BIOS allows.
