Can I suggest upgrading a single net4801-60 instead?  You can see
if this upgrade improves performance.  If the computer performance
improves, you can spend a day upgrading the other embedded computers.

In any case, it seems that either upgrading to 1.30 or downgrading
to 1.28 is something you should consider.
