The error light comes on every time you apply power as part of the power
on self test.  It should stay on for less than 10 seconds as the bios
loads, if you have your serial console setup you'll see what the box is
actually doing in this time.

Did you install the .img to the CF card using another computer as shown
on the monowall site?   Just copying the image file to the CF isn't
going to work.
