Hi Peter,

What you've got there with the sorkris 4511 is basiclly a small
machine running some unix variant, such as freebsd, linux, and so forth,
and more than likely configured with several opensource packages to
provide various functions. This is not like a consumer device which has
a web interface and so forth - they are configured via command line,
which is more than usually accessible via the serial port connector on
the unit. Assuming it is in fact running a unix and not some packaged
system such as mikrotic or staros, you'll need to log in as the root
user to the unit and use the unix command line functions to determine
what the box is configured to do and possibly review error messages
pertaining to the problem with the client in question. In other words,
if you are not unix friendly (or willing to learn), you probbly are not
going to have a whole lot of sucess.

This might not be conveinent and does demand a big learning curve
for new users, but there's a power and flexibillity in doing so that is
unavailable on other, consumerized devices. We are an ISP and we equip
our customers with this solution all the time, and the big motovating
factor for us is simply not risking software failure, as the linksys and
netgears of the world are prone to do. It costs more, but being able to
point to equipment that runs fault free for years at a time is very much
worth the trouble.
