That's probably quite a lot of writes then. Ramdisk with occasional
sync to a remote box or CF might work better for you (and/or tune the
RRD parameters if you don't mind losing the detailed data sooner than
defaults allow).

Unproven but I suspect that by buying a CF much larger than you need,
it will allow more write/erase cycles.
