[Soekris] How to Update scx200 files from kernel 2.4 to 2.6

Hi,
    My current box is running pebble linux 2.4.31. I would like to
update support for the sc1100 which is in the current 2.6 kernel. Is
there anyway I can get patches or have a package that could update
those files for me? Also, I'm not even sure if that'll work. I'm a
newbie so please help if possible with details.

 The files that I am looking at are:
              kernel 2.4.31
                  kernel 2.6.17
     include/linux/scx200.h and scx200_gpio.h
include/linux/scx200.h and scx200_gpio.h
     drivers/i2c/scx200_acb.c and scx200_i2c.c
drivers/i2c/busses/scx200_acb.c and scx200_i2c.c (located different
dir)
     drivers/char/scx200_gpio.c
 drivers/char/scx200_gpio.c
     drivers/char/scx200.c
    arch/kernel/scx200.c   (located at differnt dir)

 I am fairly new to updating kernel sources. There seems to be more
support for SC1100 witht he 2.6 kernel verison of these files.
 However, seems like some were placed in differen dirs and i'm not
sure of any other dependencies. I'm tempted to just replaces the
 files in the 2.4 source with the ones in the 2.6 source but have a
feeling that won't work. Any insite and help as to how to update
 the files would help out alot.
