[Soekris] BIOS Boot questions

I'm trying to streamline the boot-process on my net4526 boards, and  
have a few questions.

I'm trying to shorten the time spent in bios, Is it possible to skip  
the ram check on bootup? I've already reduced the bootdelay to 2  
seconds, but it still takes about 8 before LiLo starts. Is there  
anything else I can do?

Also, we are connecting our Soekris boxes to a serial device that  
broadcasts a packet once every 1/2 second or so. This seems to  
interfere with the boot process, I think because a Ctrl-P character  
is being intercepted by the bios and bringing the board into the boot  
console. If we disabled Ctrl-P, that would cause problems when we  
next wanted to flash or pxeboot the board, but is there anything else  
we can do?
