[Soekris] 4801 disk performance / pci slot

Hi,

i'm running FreeBSD 6.1 on my 4801-60. I have also attached a toshiba
2.5" hard disk to its IDE interface. The local write performance
(measured with dd) is around 8-9 MB/s which is quite okay for me. I have
exported /tmp on the 4801 and mounted at my linux workstation. When i
write to that mounted share i get only 1.5 MB/s (again dd if=/dev/zero
of=/mnt/4801 .....). Now i copy that file from the nfs share to /tmp at
my workstation and get only 700 KB/s. Are those speeds normal?
My second question is about the PCI slot. I have some Fritz Card PCI
v2.1 and want to use it in the soekris box. I have read already that
v2.x of this card should work with the 3.3V PCI slot. So far, so good,
but... my problem is, that it doesnt fit into the soekris box. It doesnt
fail on the size, the problem is the soldered isdn cable plug. Lets take
a look at the box like its on this picture [1]. If i plug in the avm
fritz card the correct way, the isdn cable plug would point to the
bottom of the picture and you would see the card from the backside (that
side where are only soldering joints). So is there any other isdn card
that would fit into the case (and the 3.3V slot)?

Thanks in advance.
