[Soekris] bad ethernet TX but not RX ?

While testing a 4801 as a possible small router / firewall, I ran
into a strange problem with my test unit. Sending out sis2 (aka 3rd
ethernet) would result in sub 1Mb performance, but coming in would
give normal speeds. Looking at the switch port there are no errors
at all. I swapped out the box for another and all works as
expected. Anyone see an ethernet port fail like this ? I know
anything is possible, but I dont recall ever coming across something like this.

e.g. blasting packets across it on a different unit with the same
flash gives expected results,

[hq2]# ttcp -f m -s -t 2.2.2.1
ttcp-t: buflen=8192, nbuf=2048, align=16384/0, port=5001  tcp  -> 2.2.2.1
ttcp-t: socket
ttcp-t: connect
ttcp-t: 16777216 bytes in 1.79 real seconds = 71.40 Mbit/sec +++
ttcp-t: 2048 I/O calls, msec/call = 0.90, calls/sec = 1142.38
ttcp-t: 0.0user 0.1sys 0:01real 5% 16i+224d 390maxrss 0+2pf 6095+2550csw
[hq2]#

and the other way

[r2-releng6-64]# ttcp -s -t -f m 1.1.1.2
ttcp-t: buflen=8192, nbuf=2048, align=16384/0, port=5001  tcp  -> 1.1.1.2
ttcp-t: socket
ttcp-t: connect
ttcp-t: 16777216 bytes in 1.75 real seconds = 73.05 Mbit/sec +++
ttcp-t: 2048 I/O calls, msec/call = 0.88, calls/sec = 1168.73
ttcp-t: 0.0user 0.0sys 0:01real 2% 16i+160d 484maxrss 0+2pf 3446+8csw
[r2-releng6-64]#
