[Soekris] Problems with large CF device

I have a 8 GB Seagate CF card (its a hard drive internally). When
trying to boot Linux on a net4801, I get these hardware errors

hda: status timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy }
ide: failed opcode was: unknown
hda: no DRQ after issuing MULTWRITE
ide0: reset: success

This happened with both a Fedora and Voyage Linux (debian-based)
install. I doubt it is a hardware problem as the CF card works fine on
regular laptops. Also, trying to boot of a 4 GB CF card works just
fine.

Does anyone have an idea of why this might be happening? Any fix? The
bios on the net4801 is 1.28 and that seems to be the latest.

Thanks,
Niraj
