[Soekris] CF Read/Write Errors

I'm preparing to develop remote Soekris boxes that will be used as
Firewall, VPN, DHCP, DNS and NIDS (Snort).
 
I would like to use a CF flash card but have read there may be limits on
the number of read/writes a CF sector can take.  Is this true, or is the
lifetime very long that it's not worth the trouble to develop devices to
boot from CF and run in RAM only?
 
Also would very much appreciate CF cards/brands recommendations...
