[Soekris] net4801 as a NAS?

Good evening all,

I think I know the answer to this, but I'd just like to verify what the list 
thinks...

I would like to use FreeNAS (http://www.freenas.org) to build a NSLU2-like 
device.  Put the O/S on a flash card, throw in a PCI card with a couple of 
USB2.0 ports and use external disks for storage.

However, a net4801 with a USB2.0 card and a couple of external disks would 
probably not make a very good NAS device, right?  Given that the net4801 
doesn't have enough CPU oompf to keep up with the 100 Mbps ethernet, the 
whole thing would therefore just crawl, I assume.

Too bad.  The form factor would have been fine.

Sigh.  I can't wait for the mythical 5501 or 7501 to come out.  Hopefully, 
now that RoHS is done...
