[Soekris] Hardware Watchdog 4511

Hello,

I'm having problems getting Hardware Watchdog working properly on a
soekris 4511.

I can load sc520_wdt module just fine, the kernel has hardware watchdog
compiled as modular.

I've even tried just software watchdog without success also.  This is on
a Soekris 4511 with Pebble v41 kernel 2.4.26-pebble.

Am I missing the boat on something important here?

It seems after a ping test fails, a message shows up
in /var/log/messages stating that watchdog is shutting down and I wait
and I wait and I wait and nothing happens.  I've tried directly running
watchdog from the commandline with soft reboot switches and verbose
output with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
