The CF flash cards /are/ IDE devices on Soekris boards (and also
standard PCs with a cheap CF-IDE adapter, often made with no
electronic components). The only difference is the connector.

CF storage devices have two modes; IDE and PC Card. Other CF
devices (GPRS, 802.11b, ethernet,...) just have the PC Card
interface (Soekris CF sockets are wired to IDE only. The
PC Card mode is not supported, except for net4511/4521 with
a carrier card).

Alternatively if you want two separate devices (CF and 44-pin)
for some reason (though I can't think why) you can buy either
devices which plug straight into a 44-pin socket (or 40-pin
socket of course) which are usually called DiskOnModule (DOM)
There are also flash-based devices in 2.5" and 3.5" HD form.

Try http://www.ipc2u.com/catalog/F/ for examples.

I haven't tried the 44-pin but I found some of the 40-pin DOM
are very difficult to remove from some motherboard IDE connectors
after they've been attached. This is, of course, a big advantage
if they're used in a high-vibration environment, but can be
annoying at other times!
