Have you built your kernel to boot via the serial port by turning on
CONFIG_SERIAL_8250_CONSOLE (requires serial support to be compiled in
and not a module)? I use append="console=ttyS0,19200N8" in my
lilo.conf and that works with the above kernel confs.
