[Soekris] Power supplies - Customizing the Soekris

Hi Everyone,
  I am currently building a 1u rackmount server and am including two 4801
Soekris boards.  I am currently researching how the power supply should be
included.  From my research, it seems that all a regular PC power supply does
is to take AC and convert it into DC for the computer to use.  I am wondering
how accurate this information is, and whether I can just buy a mylar connector
and "bleed" off the power I need to run the soekris?  Should I be concerned 
with stepping the current down?  How would I go about doing this.  Tips on what
I should be looking for would be much appreciated.  I'd hate to burn up my
boards.....
