Hi Joey,

Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately, in my case the BIOS itself now seems to be dead.
When powered on, I can get absolutely nothing to come up on the serial
console.

I'm guessing, at this point, I'd have to get the bios flashed directly onto
the
bios chip, which would presumably mean sending it back to Soekris.

   Our 4801 Soekris unit did the same thing and I also got no reply from the
forums or the company. So, I simply reverted back to the 1.27 for the 4801.
You have to force it with a "flashupdate -f". Go here for more info -

If anyone knows what to do after the v1.28 BIOS upgrade, please email the
forums exact details on what you have to do to get the CF card to boot.

Hi All,

I'm still trying to get this board running again, but can't find any
information on the possibilities of getting a valid BIOS back onto it.

I've tried emailing Soekris and their European supplier but have had no
replies.

Can anyone tell me if I can do anything with this board, other than consign
it to the bin ?

Hi All,

I have a 4521 that had bios version 1.26a on it, running OpenBSD 3.7 from
compact flash.

I've just attempted to upgrade the bios to version 1.28.
This all seemed to be going alright, downloading and flashupdating the bios,
until I rebooted.

Now I'm getting no response at all on the serial console. I've tried
different baud rates in case the speed was reset, but still nothing.
Just the power LED and the red Error LED.

I'm guessing I've corrupted the Bios somehow.

Is this recoverable ? Any suggestions ?
