I thought about getting one of those (they are cheaper than Hitachi's 
Microdrives after all), so asked photographers I know.
It seems everyone whose camera can use CF tested them...results were 
mixed: about 4 said it did not work at all
whereas the Microdrive was ok, and the other 2 got it working in their 
camera. One died within 2 months.

That's a sample from 6 photographers with CF capable camera. 
Statistically not significant, but it made me not buy one of those.
The price difference in Japan is only about 20% to the 2GB Microdrive 
after all.

However, it seems they treat their Microdrives not too well either: they 
seem to die after about 1-2 year of heavy use.
Those who use it only once in a while, had no problems so far.
