What brand CF you have? I have heard certain brand of CF gives problem. I am
using SanDisk and Toshiba brand CF without problems. Try using different
brand and see if that helps.

Soft reboot never worked with this card for me, but I tried it anyway hoping
it may have come with corrupt boot sectors. No dice, but thanks for the
advice.

I had this exact issue before. If your same CF worked using soft reboot in
the past, but not now, you may have corrupt boot sectors. I was able to fix
this by issuing this command in Linux or FreeBSD: dd if=/dev/zero
of=/dev/da2 bs=1k count=100

Or for windows, create about 100kb of zeroed file as zero.bin and flash it
using your favorite CF flasher software.

Hope this helps..

Subject: [Soekris] net4501 reboot issue

I'm not able to do a soft reboot with the CF card I have, and after
searching around it looks like this is a known (and unresolved) issue with
comBIOS. Resetting with the button on the box, or killing the power and
booting up works fine, but rebooting either from the os ( I'm using OpenBSD
3.8 built with flashdist, but I originally tried m0n0wall 1.2 and had the
same problem ) or from comBIOS fails. The board came with comBIOS v. 1.28,
although I downgraded it and tested v. 1.25, 1.26a, 1.27 and 1.28 again, all
with the same behavior. Some copy/paste below.

Is there something I can do to work around this? If this is a comBIOS bug,
is there any information I can provide to help get this fixed and have a new
version released?

Thanks,
