In my experience it is, but only for relatively low-bandwidth
applications.  (I was unable to max out even a 10Mb Ethernet.)

In my experience that will actually slow OpenVPN down - the kernel/user
crossing penalty outweighs the encryption-speed benefit.  (And yes, the
experience I refer to is with a 1411 on a 4801 running OpenVPN.)  The
1411 may be a help for in-kernel uses like IPsec, but not for OpenVPN,
and probably not for a bunch of other userland crypto tasks.
