[Soekris] 4511 using FreeBSD boot from CF

As a followup,

I could not get 5.1 to work properly with the CF. NO matter what I
tried (which I am sure wasn't everything) after freebsd booted, I
always got the error when /bin/sh was started. I tried different Cf's
and all.

So out of curiosity, I installed 4.8, rebuillt the kernel using the
same options, installed everything on the CF and it worked just fine
with one exception.

I had a ide 5gb drive plugged into the pcmcia slot of the 4511. On 5.1
it recognized the drive and performed initialization. However, on 4.8
it doesn't recognize the drive. Looking in the version notes, 4.10 and
later included 32 bit cardbus support.

Question is it because 4.8 doesn't have cardbus support it won't work
with the pcmcia ide drive?

Question things are working so well on 4.8 how hard is it to install
the drivers for the pcmcia ide drive or should I once again try and
install everything using 4.10 which has cardbus 32 bit support.

thanks in advance

A
