[Soekris] OpenBSD 3.5 logon prompt not showing up

After installing a dozen or so 4501 units with OpenBSD I have come across a
problem I have not seen before... The unit boots up (I'm attached to the
console port watching the process), goes through bios, OpenBSD's startup
routine, the entire rc script, then stops. The last thing that displays on
the serial console is the results of the date command at the end of the rc
script, after which nothing. The system is up and running, I can connect to
it with SSH, but nothing further on the serial console.

I've verified my settings in boot.conf and ttys (console "/usr/libexec/getty
std.19200" vt220 off secure), both of which have to be correct to
even see this much, as well as all other settings that I know of. About the
only difference is that I am using OpenBSD 3.5 for the first time - until
now I've used OpenBSD 3.3 and 3.4 for all my units. All I can guess is that
for some reason getty is sending its output to some other location, but I've
not had this before so I cannot even beging to guess where, how to fix it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Peter
