There are companies that make complete boxes of this kind, but they're
targeted at fire and burglar-alarms so they tend to be costly.
Check out these guys: http://www.ibexmfg.com/ I've never tried their
products but their entire web-presence is wonderfull no nonsense and
their app-notes contain all you'll ever need to know about lead-acid
batteries.
