[Soekris] inetd not starting

I have created a system based on freebsd 5.2.1 using a compact flash, & wireless
card on a 4511. Works just fine. I am trying to start inetd and it keeps
aborting with a message of "unknown rpc/tcp or rpc/udp" in the message log. I
don't know what the error message means. Anyone that can point me in the right
direction would be appreciated.
