[Soekris] Setting up GRUB on CF via a USB reader

Hi all,
Having got my net4801, I'm trying to set up my flash card to boot the
device. The only way I can do it at the moment is actually setting up
the CF card on another machine, until I get my null modem cable (it's
on order, but I'd like a head start).
I've set up my grub config file, but now I'm thinking about how to
install the bootloader itself. I've got a USB flash card reader that
I'm using for this, which ends up as /dev/sda, but of course when I
boot it on the soekris box it'll be /dev/hda or (hd0,0). Has anyone
done this before? How did you install grub on the CF so that it would
just imagine it's the first ATA disk while being SCSI/USB when
installed?
Cheers!
Chris
