Many drives work (assuming you have the correct cable or adapter: I
think I used a 2.5"-3.5" adapter that had a socket on one side and
pins on the other). Think I'd choose to feed from a separate PSU
(some external PSU with a PC-standard 4-pin Molex exist which are
designed to power drives connected by USB2->IDE adapter cables, and
often supplied with those cables, otherwise you could use a standard
PC power supply - if it's ATX, grounding the green cable on the
motherboard connector will get it to power-up without a motherboard
attached, though this does bypass the power-good circuitry normally
used to check the voltage is OK).

that comBIOS supported only LBA28, and that LBA48 support wouldn't
appear until 2.5" drives required it. Assuming that's still the case,
you're limited to 137GB.
