[Soekris] net4511/net4526 operating temp?

I am using some net4511's in outdoor enclosures for wifi meshing.  I just 
double checked the specs on the 4511 and it said operating temperature 
was 0-60C (32-140F).  The net4526 page lists the same operating 
temperature but then says "typical -30 to 60C".  What does that mean 
exactly?  Does it apply to the net4511 as well?  Does anyone have any 
real world experience of these boxes surviving a northern latitude winter 
(like Chicago maybe -20F)?
