I had the same trouble with FreeBSD 5.21 - got everything ready
to PXE-boot (and sat through sysinstall painting the screen over
serial console...) I had a lot of trouble getting it to open the
ftp site, then finally I got that to work and it didn't want to
write to the disk.
In the end I just wanted to get it running so I installed on a
laptop and moved the disk back, which was successful. I haven't had
such trouble with sysinstall before (since 2.2 or so). Not really
had enough time to look at it properly yet though.
