hmm... after doing cryptotest -z 1024
and
openssl des3 -d -in big-3des-encrypted-file.enc -out d.dump.gz
offsite% /usr/src/tools/tools/crypto/hifnstats
input 391747688 bytes 139862 packets
output 391747688 bytes 139862 packets
invalid 0 nomem 0 abort 0
noirq 0 unaligned 0
totbatch 0 maxbatch 0
nomem: map 0 load 0 mbuf 0 mcl 0 cr 0 sd 0
offsite%
... Looking at the sending end, the ssh invocation was just working with
the default, which does not seem to be 3des for some reason and is probably
using aes128 or something else lumpy and unaccelerated :-(

error!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for helping me track this done.
From the original post s/and all except 1 work great/all work great!/
