[Soekris] FW: Ethernet interfaces disapear?

Yes, it has happened to me when I inserted the PCI card the wrong way.
DWL-520 is "universal", meaning that it can work on both 3.3V and 5V PCI
buses and is keyed that way. Specifically, it means that the card has *two*
notches in its PCI edge connector. Therefore you can insert it in both ways,
one works flawlessly, the other way completely messes up the PCI bus - no
wi, no sis, which is consistant with the symptoms you are describing.
The proper orientation is with the antenna pointing towards the side with
ethernet and serial connectors, *not* towards the LEDs. Unfortunately, one
tends to insert it the wrong way when testing because of the design of the
enclosure. You have to remove the net4501 board from its case or drill a
hole for the antenna connector.
Hope this helps.
