I think you have misinterpreted the specs. The 15W is what the 4801 power
regulator can supply; not what the 4801 consumes itself. A simple current
measurement will tell you if you're within limits.

And a 1.5A power supply *is* plenty. Even with a disk. I know from
experience (and measurement!)
