I see.  In addition to needing a remedial course in logic, you

There are differences in flash cards, and there may also be a bug in
the net4801 BIOS.  I'm only working with CF cards that are known to
boot on other computers, including with a direct IDE-CF interface.

It would not be surprising for a newly-released BIOS to have bugs.
